Heart in the Park

Monumental – Iconic – Landmark…powerful and descriptive words that are often overused and rarely is there an opportunity to envision and create a public space which embodies them. On February 14, 2023, Mattamy Homes broke ground on Heart in the Park, an almost one-acre public space featuring a 73’ tall stainless steel heart sculpture by internationally acclaimed Filipino-American artist, JEFRË.
“Tradition is what is in your heart. I just want to show how big it can be,” said JEFRË, whose works include “Reflection” in Philadelphia and “Heaven’s Gate” in Manila.

Lucido & Associates feels honored to have been involved in the City of Port St. Lucie’s creation of the first Public Art Master Plan and Public Art Advisory Boards as well as numerous public art installations throughout the City. With Heart in the Park, this was a truly unique opportunity to create an equally monumental public space surrounding an iconic landmark – a multi-faceted space to relax, socialize, host art and community events – and of course that ever important selfie with the Heart or even perhaps an occasional proposal.
